DISCUSSION AND CHAT

The Internet provides a unique medium for bringing individuals together from across the country and around the world. Visit our online message boards and live chat rooms on various ministries of the Archdiocese of America. Post a question online or engage in an ongoing discussion.

ETIQUETTE AND PROTOCOL

What is the proper way to greet or address an Orthodox Christian priest, bishop, archbishop, or patriarch? Our online guide provides proper way to address the clergy and hierarchs of the Orthodox Churh in English, Greek, and Slavonic.

ICON GALLERY AND CLIP ART

A wealth of iconography and clip art is available here for non-profit use by our parishes. The icons and clip art available here can be used in weekly and monthly bulletins, a variety of flyers, printed material, parish web sites, and presentations.

INTERNET MINISTRIES

Since 1994, the Department of Internet Ministries has focused on the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ who said: “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation” (Mark 16.15). Internet Ministries is dedicated to utilizing the medium of computers and the Internet for the proclamation of the Good News of the Gospel and for the advancement of Orthodox Christian ministry. Learn about the various programs such as free web hosting, listserver services, web based calendar software, multimedia broadcasting services, and more offered by the department and how your parish can take advantage of these services.

LITURGICAL MUSIC

"Sing praises to God, sing praises" (Psalm 47:6). Orthodox Christianity's musical tradition has been forged over 2,000 years. Now you can listen to this rich musical tradition online and learn the various hymns of the Orthodox Christian faith. This section also includes online recordings of complete liturgical servies.

LITURGICAL SERVICES

"Orthodoxy," writes Bishop Kallistos Ware, "sees humanity above all else as liturgical creatures who are most truly themselves when they glorify God, and who find their perfection and self-fulfillment in worship." This section provides the faithful with online editions of some of the services used in the Orthodox Christian Church.

LIVE BROADCASTS

Each week, the Department of Internet Ministries offers live broadcasts for those who, for good reason, are unable to attend liturgical services. This section lists our available live broadcasts along with a complete schedule of daily and weekly services and broadcast times.

LIVES OF THE SAINTS

If you have ever wanted to know when your nameday is; read about the Orthodox Church's view on saints; learn more about the life of a particular saint; or know which saints are commemorated today, then this section is for you.

Outreach & Evangelism

The Department of Outreach & Evangelism offers tools for the renewal and sharing of the Orthodox Christian Faith in America, for reaching out to inactive Orthodox Christians and to the unchurched, and by meeting the needs of those inquiring about the Orthodox faith.

PASTORAL RESOURCES

This soon to be expanded section of our web site provides clergy with resources to assist them in their pastoral ministry. This section currently contains material to assit clergy in their post-funeral ministry to grieving families.

PRAYERS AND HYMNS

Saint Paul exhorts us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to "sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God" (Colossians 3:16). This section provides a selection of inspirational pslams, devotional prayers, and liturgial hymns from the Orthodox Christian faith.

PREACHING RESOURCES

Created especially for our clergy, this section contains sermons and sermonettes spanning each Sunday of the Ecclesiastical year in addition to some of the major feasts and fasts of the Orthodox Church. Sermons and sermonettes are available in both audio and text format.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

This section offers catechetical materials, services, resources, information, and links for parishes and dioceses that will assist in the advance of their programs of religious education.

RESOURCES AND LINKS

The Internet offers a vast wealth of information. However, finding the right place to go is sometimes a challenging task. This section provides links to the various Orthodox Christian Patriarchate, autocephalous churches, Archdioceses, monasteries, and seminaries located throughout the world.

STEWARDSHIP

Orthodox Christians are called by God to be stewards of their time, talents, and treasure. The department of Stewardship Ministries offers numerous manuals, resources, sermons, and theological reflections concerning stewardship. These resources are intended to help educate the faithful on this three-fold nature of stewardship and implement and expand stewardship programs within a parish.

SOCIAL SERVICES

Loving one's neighbor as one's self is one of the central messages of the Gospel. Social outreach is a manifestation of this command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This section contains an online directory of select Hellenic and Orthodox social services available within the United States. A listing here does not constitute an endorsement by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

Over 60 high-quality, full-length video programs programs covering a variety of theological, spiritual, social, and environmental topics.
